Bob Talarczyk is a world-renowned art director, producer / director, photographer and visionary. Darkhorse Design was founded in spiritual Santa Fe, New Mexico and is now based in the heartland of historic Pennsylvania where family farming roots began. A seasoned professional, Bob has designed and branded a wide variety of marketing, medical and consumer communications projects for Fortune 500 companies. Bob’s influence has been seen both nationally and internationally. He has brought graphic design to a new level.
An expert in international brand identity,
Bob previously served as Worldwide Design Manager for Merck Pharmaceuticals. There, he led the logo and branding development of such major global medications as Zocor, Arcoxia, Emend and many others. Prior to that, he worked as a Design Director/Director/Producer for the world famous, in-house design group (Swiss Graphic Design) of Ciba-Geigy (now Novartis). He began his career as a Senior Art Director at
J. Walter Thompson in New York City.
Bob has long been recognized as a pioneer and acknowledged authority in developing pharmaceutical advertising for commercial television (designed & produced the first Rx commercial to air on Cable Health Network TV on June 29, 1983). Which set the Rx Standard for Broadcast TV Production. He produced the first digital, animated beating heart that had the honor of being featured at Siggraph, New York, NY, through Cranston/Csuri Productions with Chuck Csuri (Father of Computer Graphics), Paul Sidlo, Don Stredney, Steve Martino and Ohio State University’s Super Computer Center. He is particularly proud to have directed, designed and produced the promotional work for the “Brain Series” and “Cezanne Special” that originally aired on the Public Broadcasting System (PBS). Bob had the opportunity to work with Frank Perdue on the initial launch of Perdue Chicken. He art directed the AT&T-TV commercial with Richard Bach, author of “Jonathan Livingston Seagull” which was featured in the TV special “Born Free." He also had the opportunity to design the award- winning documentary film “The History of Telecommunications” for AT&T
(Lee Savage, Director).

More than two hundred national and international awards in design, art direction, film, video and photography demonstrate Bob’s expertise in all areas of media. Indeed, some of his acclaimed photography and design hang in the White House, Washington, D.C.; the International Balloon Museum, Albuquerque, N.M.; the South Sreet Seaport, New York, N.Y. and the National Museum of the United States Air Force, Dayton, Ohio.
